Renatus as an independent business was born when the current managing director Colin Peacock purchased the UK organ building activity of Wyvern Organs. At that time they operated from a redundant Victorian school premises but moved to the current modern facilities in 2008.
Experts in design and manufacture of bespoke organs
Renatus is one of a very small number of niche providers of specialised services to both pipe and digital organ companies. Their skills include design and manufacture of many wooden organ components, including consoles, casework, chests and action parts.
In recent years the business has diversified, supplying bespoke furniture joinery to the retail, healthcare and museum sectors.
The manufacture of an organ console is a highly specialised activity requiring detailed knowledge of the relationship that must be maintained between the player, the manuals and pedal board whose standards subtly differ between the UK, USA and Europe.
Once in a lifetime organ purchase
The cabinet makers craftsmanship is evident in the appearance of their work but hidden beneath the console’s external skin there lies a host of wiring and component placement that Renatus also master.
Customers will perhaps once in a lifetime commission a new organ so they do not necessarily know the twists and turns the journey that lies ahead may pose. Working with Renatus brings access to the great experience of organ console manufacture built up over many years allowing every instrument we build with them to be a true masterpiece of both engineering and visual appearance.
I have had a passion for church organs since the tender age of 12. I own and run Regent Classic Organs with a close attention to the detail that musicians appreciate; and a clear understanding of the benefits of digital technology and keeping to the traditional and emotional elements of organ playing.
