All Saints Church Wokingham July 2023

All Saints church underwent a major internal refit in 2022 involving the installation of new underfloor heating and the removal of the pews to provide a much more flexible community space.

Their Copeman Hart organ dated from the late 1980’s. The speaker system included Ernest’s signature bass columns that ran the full height of the nave in two locations and the main speaker bank was housed in far from attractive cases on either side of the Chancel arch.

The refurbishment of the space would remove all this part of the organ and as it was becoming unreliable it was decided that the time had arrived for its rebuilding or replacement.

The organ rebuild involved a reduction of the stop list from 60 to 47 with the loss of the west end division that was located above the west door. A new speaker system was placed high on north and south sides high in the nave with a further pair of speakers in the chancel to allow more intimate support of the choir.
