St John’s College Cambridge April 2025
We worked with the Director of Music at St John’s College on this project. He wanted the very best instrument for both choral accompaniment and organ practice. We knew that the college’s organ needed to have the highest quality keyboards in order to support the students’ many hours of weekly organ practice.
We naturally recommended our keyboards for this instrument to be made by UHT in Germany. This instrument will have an identical stop list to the rebuilt Willis pipe organ – providing the organ scholars with a run-in to the fine pipe organ that will eventually take pride of place at the College.
We incorporated some features not normally found on pipe organs built in past years like: a stop-clock to allow pieces to be timed, a Bluetooth page-turning device with thumb pistons to manage it, and a mobile phone charging port.
